Correcting an Inverted Nipple

Published on March 23, 2017

Inverted nipple is a condition that that causes one or both nipples to fold and collapse inward rather than project outward in a natural position. This condition can be corrected through physical stimulation of the nipple, but many people have nipples that will return to their inverted position after being pulled out or may have nipples that are locked in an inward position.

In cases where the nipple is densely inverted, surgery may be required. During the procedure, the nipple is pulled out and held in an everted position so that the small fibers causing the nipple to invert can be dissected. The nipple will then be placed in a natural-looking position and sutured into place.
